third grade

i'd like to have a shampoo that smells like sunshine
and then everywhere i went people would
always think that it was recess.

ish good

I like when I hear people who have voices that would be good for narrating books on tape.  Like this man in front of me at Target who announced that he thought the button downs were on sale with the prettiest most resonant cadence I'd ever heard.  Now read me poetry!

just weird

I don't like nights when I am back home. Because everyone else goes to sleep and for some reason I feel myself becoming more of the person that I was when I lived here. Mostly because there is this drawer of stuff that I inevitably open when I cannot sleep. And everytime I open this drawer this spirit of Sarah past creeps out and while I like her I don't want to be her anymore.

more angst than necessary

I was snow white once
Like gossamer lace -
The kind that trims the wedding gowns
I'll never afford.

oh! what i mess i made.
haphazardly forcing the shears
no distinguishable patterns.
and then my clammy hands wadded up the fabric
i forced it into a malleable sphere.
clenched and sticking to my moistened palm.

My fingers loosened.
I relaxed my grip.
and it exploded.

ode to two men in booth at panera

a lesson in opposites perhaps?
predictable.
one wears a business suit. laptop. ostentatious lapel pins.
wire rim glasses. steaming cup of joe.
meticulously groomed sideburns.
white button down starched to crisp angular perfection.
the other one. white tee.
says he just ran.
probably not.
